Performance location: Huntington Beach Central Park
Schedule: Most Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. May through September.
Fauni – 20’s to mid-30’s. She is a guardian of forest and gatekeeper to the portal into Faeryland. She is a wood spirit and needs to be convinced by the children that they will protect the forest before they are allowed to enter into Faeryland.
Pilliwiggin – 20’s to mid-30’s. She is a small childlike nature faery from England. She has made her home beneath the magic oak tree in the bell of the wildflowers growing near Heavenly Pond. She is part of Queen Aine’s faery court and the only one who knows the queen’s location.
Queen Ainé – 20’s – mid-40’s. She is an Irish fairy queen, and a member of the Tuatha dé Danann. She is a woman of the Sidhe, the faery folk of the mounds. The fairies from the Tuatha dé Danann are known for their power, beauty, intelligence, and grace. Queen Ainé is famous for her kindness and concern for human children. With her magical faery light, which she wears in a beautiful necklace, she guides the human children from their sleeping and dreaming state to the awake-world.
Darrig the Troll: Any age males. Comedy role. Very smelly, like the smell of your feet after wearing your hiking boots all day. He is a hillspirit, which is why Trolls are called Hillpeople or Hillfolk. An unlikely friend, but once he is charmed by the faery song, he proves to be an ardent friend.
Isfandiar (Larry), the Simurg – 20’s – 40’s. The handsome prince. The Simurg is a jewel-like creature whose feathers have powers of healing. He once was a Scottish knight who scorned the love of a woman who had witching powers. In the witch’s anger, she transformed him into this half-man, half-bird. Ashamed of his disfigurement and trapped in the loathsome body, the knight hides himself the darkest part of the forest.
Frances Griffiths and Elsie Wright – Any age. Eccentric English ladies and faery experts ever since they were young children. But the older they have gotten, the harder it is to see the enchanted little creatures. Only the children can see them. Frances and Elsie elicit the children’s help.

I think this show sounds like so much fun! When I was a kid, my sister and I used to play "fairies" all the time, we would pretend we were fairies and have all these amazing adventures. I also loved the Flower Fairy books. My inner child is still wide awake and ready to play, I've been wanting to do children's theater or a children's TV show. I got to be the Easter Bunny about 5 years ago, and that was so much fun! (Albeit hot inside the costume.) So, I called the director last night and now have an audition on Monday! YAY! The director asked what age range I could play, I told her 17 to mid-twenties, so she said that's appropriate for one of the faeries. YAY!!

THIS IS SO EXCITING! I wish you all the best at your audition and that you get to play (and be paid to play!) your favorite faerie.
