First Look

I just got my first look at some of the audition videos for Round 3 of the LiveMansion: The Movie contest. I didn't allow myself to watch any of them before I had my own videos recorded because I didn't want the others to influence my own performance. But now that I've seen a good chunk of my competition, I just have to say I am so excited to be a part of this! I can't wait to get my videos up, and start gathering votes. I'm still waiting for my cousin's boyfriend to transfer the videos to CD for me. He has been incredibly busy the last couple of months, just bought a business, plus going to college full time. I tried to make it as easy as I could for him, keeping only the final take I wanted to use by recording over the not so good ones, that way he wouldn't have to hunt for them on the tape. I even wrote down the time signatures for the takes. All he has to do is put them on CD. I'm trying not to be too impatient because he is so busy, but at the same time, there is only a little over two weeks left in Round 3, and I can't do anything without my videos up. Granted that's partly my own fault for taking so long to get the videos done, if I'd been more motivated I would have found a way to get them recorded sooner, come hell or high water, with or without help. I hope he'll have them done for me by tomorrow (Friday). He's leaving for Hawaii for a week early Saturday morning with my cousin's family, and if he hasn't gotten it done by then, I'm absolutely screwed. He's been very supportive, and hasn't let me down, however, so I'm trying not to worry or be too impatient. ACK!

I've picked a new theme song for myself. One of the things that's been bothering me since before Christmas is I am such a homebody, and so afraid of life. I think that's why I've been continuing to act like a spoiled brat, it keeps me a child, it keeps me safe from real life. So I picked this song that's been popular on the radio lately. Today was the first day I really listed to the lyrics. I am physically unable to sing along with this song in full voice yet, my breath catches in my throat. I want to be able to belt the chorus with full honesty and commitment.

UNWRITTEN
Lyrics by Natasha Bedingfield
Performed by Rhianna

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
